Steelwork

Atlasco Constructional Engineers Limited has over 50 years of experience providing innovative, economic and sustainable steelwork solutions to the construction industry.

Design & Detail

Our dedicated, in house, design team consists of structural engineers and draftsmen with a combined wealth of technical expertise and practical knowledge.
Specialising primarily in steelwork design but with an eye to all on site design specialities, we can often offer alternative and innovative solutions to enable projects to be constructed more quickly and economically. With the latest suite of 2D and 3D software provided by Tekla at our disposal we are able to efficiently explore multiple design options and offer our clients complete design & build solutions.

With the design element complete, our drafting team liaise closely with other members of the design team to produce fabrication and erection drawings. Working using the latest 3D modelling software, a structural model is created allowing all elements to be accurately detailed and interrogated by the design team. Once completed comprehensive fabrication details are produced and issued to the fabrication workshop for manufacture.

Fabrication

From our ever evolving, purpose built fabrication facility we are able to deliver high quality fabrications. Our motivated, well organised and skilled workforce accurately manufacture all the individual components required to deliver projects on time.
Efficiency and safety are paramount to our operations with all workshop supervisors directly responsible to the company directors.

Our manufacturing process:

  1. Stockyard
  2. Processing (Cutting, Drilling & Shot Blasting)
  3. Fittings Workshop
  4. Welding Workshop
  5. Painting / Galvanising
  6. Delivery & Erection

Painting

All of the painting we do is carried out in house by our long serving and highly skilled workforce. We pride ourselves on the quality of our finish via the latest airless spraying equipment. Airless spraying equipment is used because of its ability to spray thick coatings at a high volume, and is therefore ideal for use on steelwork.
All of our painting is conducted in accordance with BS 5493:1977 The code of practice for protective coating of iron and steel structures against corrosion and BS EN ISO 12944-5:1998 Corrosion protection of steel structures by protective paint systems.
We offer ‘Off Site Intumescent Coating’ each section of steelwork is given an Intumescent ‘loading,’ to the correct dry film thickness required to maintain a 30, 60, even 120 minute fire protection rating.
Inspection of painted steelwork is critical; therefore each assembly is inspected via electronic micrometer to ensure that the average DFT (Dry Film Thickness) is above the minimum requirement.

Erection

All on site erection of steelwork is carried out by our erecting teams. Efficiency and safety are paramount to our ‘on-site’ operations with all supervisors directly responsible to one of the company directors.
All of our on-site personnel are CSCS card holders and all of our site supervisors are SSSTS qualified.
