Health and Safety

Here at Atlasco we promote the importance of all aspects of Health and Safety both at our works and on site.

Health and safety and its effective implementation are paramount issues to which Atlasco continues to pay close attention in order to further minimise the risks of accidents. As such health and safety is monitored on a daily basis by our workshop and site supervisors.

Atlasco is committed to ensuring that the working environment both at our premises, and on site are safe and free from health hazards in consideration of our employees and others. This is achieved by working closely with our clients, suppliers and health and safety bodies.

Atlasco is a staunch supporter of the BCSA's safety initiatives to make the industry a safer place to work. In particular the efforts to readily achieve more intuitively designed structures which can be erected quickly and safely, minimising the need for employees to work at height on open steelwork.

Environmental

Atlasco is committed to protecting and enhancing the environment on our premises and in our site operations.

Environmental Practices

  • Minimise nuisance to adjacent properties from litter, noise and detrimental substances.
  • Wherever possible utilise re-cycling services for waste products (steel, paper, timber etc).
  • Maintain all vehicles and plant to a standard to minimise impact through noise and pollution from exhaust emissions.
  • Ensure that measures laid down in the Health & Safety Policy and Method Statements are enforced to protect employees, visitors and the general public from unacceptable risks.

Environmental benefits of steel construction

  • Steel can be recycled again and again with no degradation of its structural properties or performance.
  • Steel fabrication is a clean operation with minimal pollution.
  • A high percentage of structural steelwork is re-used after demolition.
  • Steel’s high strength-to-weight ratio can be exploited to result in lightweight cost effective structures with low environmental impacts.
